Repairing of old floppy drives

I have 2 old floppy drives from Sony F500 MSX2 computers with the same problem - they don't read floppies (Disk I/O Error). Both motors work fine, but the data is not read/written, as it seems. The drives are Mitsumi D357. Did anyone try to fix such drives? What is the most common problem with those drives?

I suspect that the diskette rotating motor's RPM may be low. Is there a reliable way to check the motor's RPM and trim it?

This has cost me a top head back in the nineties. Disk was out, but head was still down. Inserted a new disk which forced the top head off.
It needs a bit of google translate, but this claims to prevent that to happen.
If this happened to you, the above is too late info.

Looks like both heads are intact. Tried formatting with 360k, but it can't finish the formatting, shows "Disk error" message. Looks like it can't read or write the boot sector.

I can format the same floppy using a different floppy drive on the same MSX. The head of the non-working floppy drive is intact - I checked. So this is not an alighnment problem.
