So basically I built myself a vga to scart cable and offcourse it doesn't directly work. This problem has been described and discussed earlier on this forum but the problem goes even deeper. The output port pinout differs between rev1 and rev2 and I have 5volts on pin9 indicating that i am dealing with the rev1 but thats not enough evidence for me. So what other indicators do I have to look for to find out which of the two I own?

PowerGraph v1 and v2

The 1st and 2nd versions of the PowerGraph features a DE-15 subminiature connector with a custom pinout. 1st version uses a male connector, while 2nd version uses a female connector, but the pinout is the same.

it is from wiki

it seems pinout changed in Powergraph light, but if you speak about rev1 and rev2 of the light version then they are different - rev 2 has s-video and rca on board (without adapter) and more important, it is on preorder and not produced yet so you probably don't have one Wink

Ohw boy its getting more and more confusing. I am not speaking of the light version sorry for the confusion but if the 2th revision uses a female port i certainly have the rev1 type. That means I need to connect pin 15 to 20 on scart and draw 5v from pin 9 for 8 and 16 scart with some resistance.

I have v1 and v2 and made my own leads for both a few years ago. I had to do a simple mod to the pcb on v1.

Aaaah finally found a photo of the rev2 on the net. It says rev2 on the sticker and there are some minor changes to the looks. Rev1 confirmed for my situation. Time to build the proper cable for it.

"power" graph : doesn't do swat. I had very deep green jailbars for a second and then black screen. I give up. We will see what the new light version will do. Tried everything and I get nothing so I will wait for the newer version.

What wiring diagram are you working to? Did you do the mod on the pcb?

No mods on the pcb.
Pin 13 hsync to pin20 scart
Pin 1, 2 and 3 to the respective rgb signals on scart
Pin 9 +5v to pin8 direct and pin 16 via 100 ohms resistor
The rest of the scart pins to ground.

I don't think it will work without the pcb mod, unless you add an external battery.

Finally after hours of fiddling I picked up the scope and got a working image but still with problems. The colors look very greish/greenish. I have seen this problem before when modding to a v9958 in another msx. Rgb are connected correctly but that doesn't matter anyway. I tried all possible 6 combinations with all similar results. The pinout of the output makes absolutely no sense at all. Sync on pin 15 rgb on pin 10,11 and 12 and many svideo stuff on the other pins. Guess I bought the faulty version. I am now grumpy beyond compare.
