Is it possible to adjust MSX screen "middle area" in any way? As seen in the attached picture the black middle is tilted a bit to the left and I haven't figure out a way to adjust it in any way.. The monitor is Samsung syncmaster TV set to 4:3 picture and scart is used to attach msx to tv. I cannot find anything to make the adjustment from television menu. And the same problem exists on another samsung tv as well. So propaply the television is not the problem.
Are there any hardware components which can be adjustet, or maybe some way to do it using basic instructions / commands?

EDIT: Found the solution already. Answer: Using SET ADJUST command.

Try SET ADJUST (4,0)

The television is exactly the problem... This is very typical for LCD televisions. They save money & effort on the scaling and this is the end result... It is not so bad problem with VCR but computer games without pixels on left can be pretty annoying. Generally I would say mixing old and new hardware this way is looking for troubles. Ultimately best, low cost solution: Get a real CRT. Second best solution: Connect laptop instead and use emulator.

Yep, surely, this setup does not have the feeling of CRT, and it is not adjustable in analog manner.
Though I got it _almost_ in the middle using SET ADJUST.
I think it is fine atm, but maybe later on I have a possibility to get and use CRT as well. Like said, it would be how it was meant to be presented.

But no emulators. I just got back into playing with real hardware again for a change. Cool

the silly thing with these screens is that there is an auto button, but that only centers what comes in through vga.
So maybe get an active rgb-vga converter (do they exist?) or framemeister/ossc kind of solution for the hdmi input.

Got it looking like this, so I'd say it is close enough. Not exact, but doesn't bother anymore.

If your computer battery works well, SET ADJUST is practically ok solution for MSX1 titles, but especially for horizontal scrolling MSX2 games it is completely useless.

Especially flat screen embedded scalers are typically full of problems that unfortunately are not limited to cutting picture from sides... like jerky scrolling, blurred picture while scrolling, bad deinterlace, delay in picture output, losing of sync when changing refresh rate, saturated colors, jail bars, wrong shape pixels, lack of scanlines etc. etc. etc.

Quickly about the most popular external scalers: OSSC is great, but although the price has come down, it is still practically more expensive and more complex to use compared to CRT. (I have one "for emergency", but I use CRT in home environment). Framemeister is excellent when it comes to picture quality, but on negative side, it adds one frame (~20ms) delay and costs you both arm and a leg. If you must work with retro computers and flat screens these are anyway the classical serious options you want to check out. These are the ones that are known to usually give you a nice result after some tuning.

Actually, OSSC would be an interesting choice for me in case I get frustrated by flat screen problems. Thanks for the tip Nyyrikki!
