Hey Guys!

Long time no post...

I have one of these that has a memory expansion inside.

Anyone able to dentify from the pic what it's for or any way to find out what it was? the chap i bought it from didn't know either...

I don't recognize it. However I do recognize the blue/red battery. You better remove it. They don't have a great reputation.

that's a battery?? I haven't really looked inside properly other than to swat the gotek with a flash floppy'd one out of my st while i find my serial ttl to put flash floppy on that too...

do i need to replace it? what does it do?

It's a notorious leaker. The content of batteries destroys neighboring components and the rails on PCBs in general. That happening means end of life and a lot of restoration work.
