No, not really. There's just a handful of games for 2+/tr. Only e few are worth playing. You can always use an emulator for that. On the other hand, tr has a "cool" feature that will overshadow the general MSX2 Smile

So, it all depends what you want to do. As a gamer, you can play about 98% of all games on a European MSX2 with 128kB RAM or more.

Otoh.. what's really the price difference between an MSX2 and an MSX2+ (and for this I'd also like to include an MSX2 with a V9958 built in) ..?

But most 2+ computers only have 64 Kb onboard. Not ideal for playing games.

Partly.. Japanese games obviously work with 64Kb, it's mostly the European stuff that is a wee more mem hungry. That's why I also mentioned an MSX2 with V9958, since that would be a 128KB system mostly, or even more. My pimped 8250 has 2+ and 256 Kb.

True. I only wanted to point out that memory is a real issue when it comes to playing (non-Japanese) games.

So, in what situations is it then worth to invest in MSX2+ or Turbo if it isn't for gaming? Collecting? Programming? Cool looks? Smile

Btw. 64kb hasn't been a problem as a gamer, since I haven't seen many games that needs more memory than that - in case you're playing the original ones.

There was a time when it was cool to look at digitized but otherwise pointless pictures, and they surely look nice in screen 12. Tongue Also, you could do scrolling in BASIC, assuming you have the BASIC 2+ ROMs.

Space Manbow has no shakey border on MSX2+ as it does on MSX2, and games like Dix (MSX-Engine) and Special Stage Michelle (Scaptrust) look more slick on 2+. There's a minor amount o' software which is exclusively for 2+. Some games just have a title screen in screen 12 while the rest of the game is screen 5 - though it may use hardware scrolling.
