So the answer to this thread is around 46.000, right?

I think it's more: ST 1990 at least 16.000 + 1991 28.000 + GT 1991 10.000 + 1992 13.000 + 1993 16.000
So, about 45.000 for ST and 50.000 for GT, so approx. 100.000 pieces is possible... Smile But only 82 are 'registered' here...

Retrofan, I don't believe in 1990 16.000 ST's were sold and in 1991 28.000. The units number isn't reset to 0 in 1991. It runs from 16.000 and upwards. Same goes for the GT: in total, only 16.000 were produced.

These machines therefore are an interesting oddity...

@Latok: okay, I think you're right... I thought the computer was popular in Japan back then. I expected more of them. Then it's indeed a collectors item nowadays Wink

41 of each is not so many that are left on a active MSX forum i think. We can say the MSX turbo-r is rare Wink

I know at least two which are not mentioned here... Maybe weird, but not all active MSX users go to msx.org...

@edoz: if that ~46K estimate is correct, that would be >500 Turbo-R's sold per serial in above list. I'd suspect the vast majority of those machines is still somewhere out there, not broken / disassembled / lost / discarded or whatever. Surely the idiot or two will have, but a Turbo-R isn't the kind of thing you throw away by accident... LOL!

So relatively small number, but not rare like 'just a few thousand built'. And likely one to be found for any 'fanatic' that really wants one (+ comes up with the $$).

Interesting results by the way... ST:GT roughly 2:1, Turbo-R:1chipMSX roughly 10:1 ? Shocked!

@RetroTechie: you indeed wonder where all those turboR machines went. I do believe though lots of them have been thrown away, simply because they were used as office or school computers. So there was no affection factor Smile
