I think that was inappropriate comment. I also wonder what that button does because I've never seen that symbol anywhere before.

I know, first I thought it is a glyph symbol of some sort but when I click it noting happens in the BASIC screen or the paint program, but I haven't yet tried it in the text editor, so I am still suspicious...

Could print the keyboard matrix with a small Basic program, see what it affects...

In hindsight I think it was. I didn't mean to offend anyone, and I can see why someone could, especially given the context, which I didn't think trough. Apologies to anyone who might feel offended.

This makes me think that it has to do something with the built-in software. It has to be some often used function given it has a dedicated button. It does nothing in the text editor. Perhaps it is used to add new entries in calendar? Or to swap english <-> arabic calendar? I can't really test since I have no idea how the calendar UI works because of language barriers.

It does not produce any keyclick. Every other MSX key does at least produce that. Is it possible MSX Basic isn't even aware of the button (relating to comment by Grauw)?

EDIT:Curiously, the Arabic/French version does not have this button at all, but one key less. Wiki has pictures of both keyboards.

I guess that only an Arabic user can find the utility of this key.

Mmm.... interesting....
Looking at the msx font page:
https://www.msx.org/wiki/MSX_font
The arabian character set don't have any special glyphs like the international character set ....
