Easily done. Just change the firmware from TZXDuino to CASDuino.

That is a very neat design. Amazing that all hardware fit into a small cassette case!

It is so cool but how cool would it be if:
- it would output magnetically into a the tapehead of a real tapedrive
- Playback was controlled through sensors on the rotors

It uses the head from a CDtotape adapter to play onto the head of a rape deck. Pressing play, the two heads meet and a small switch toggles the play function. The creator is thinking of using ffw and rew to toggle the up and down buttons for selecting the files.
Sadly though it would not have and motor control which would be problematic for Non Sinclair computers.

Oh wow, i thought it was just playing through 3.5mm like all the others! On the remote control: the tape drive would have motor control so if the arduino could detect slow playback vs rewind/fast forward it could use it indirectly.

Totally self contained unit with battery and everything.

The guy who built it is experimenting for the Spectrum at the moment so motor control is not a priority for him. I guess it will be for the next person to take up.

Interesting. It'll still have the REM issues but I do know Stuart is thinking about selling them. He's got 100 empty cassetttes for £10 and is looking into ways to make them cheaper to produce and improve them.

When SadKen and myself came up with the idea I thought fitting one in a cassette box was insane but a cassette?!

That looks like it's just an overpriced version of one of those cheap mp3 players for old car stereos.

It definitely isn't. It's fully functioning CAS/TZXDuino that will play CAS or TSX files for the MSX. TAP, TZX, O, P, files for Sinclair computers. CDT files for Amstrad CPC computers. TZX for Jupiter Ace computers. UEF files for Acorn Electron and BBC computers.
