RTC chip is part of the Toshiba chip engine. Btw, the diode in the battery circuit isn't there to prevent inversion of polarity. It's there to protect the batteries from receiving energy (recharge) when the computer is powered on. The 1K resistor prevent the batteries from having current drained while the computer is on.
