Have you flashed a DSK file or similar??

Try erasing the flashROM first:

- Keep preesed "UP" key nad you we'll see the "Recovery Menu".. Then select the fisrt option: F1 key

No? Then try keeping preesed "0" key at boot.

I agree Victor. It seems you have a DSK "installed".

Quote:

I shut off the MSX, go to my pc, copy over a bunch of files from the pc to the SD card (some trilo tracker TMU songs).
go back to the msx, put in sd card...

Check if one of those files is "NEXT_DSK.DAT". In that case, remove/rename that file. That file configures Nextor to boot in DSK emulator mode.
Also, you can do what Victor said: hold "0" (zero) key while booting to skip the loaded DSK. Then, erase/rename/edit NEXT_DSK.DAT file.

I will try. I did erase everything 1,2,3. Then I install sd kernel again (4). Still same.
but i will check on sd card when I get home if there is a next_dsk.dat somewhere on the sd card.

yeah that was the problem there was a next_dsk.dat in the root.. perhaps trilotracker generated it?

No, you probably executed a dsk file of MuSICA in the multi mente file explorer…

No... That file is generated by EMUFILE.COM. This's is the Disk emulator of Nextor.

You've got Multimente configured to launch DSKs with that program. That's all...

By the way, is it possible to disable only the SCC during normal boot? I mean, can you boot to Nextor with MFRSCC+SD having the SD card and RAM expansion active, but with SCC turned off? Or is there any way to disable it after booting? Question

I have a bit hard time understanding what is your problem, but yes... You can turn SCC to ie. ASCII16 mapper by writing #E0 to subslot 1 address #7FFF

You can also flash a dummy ROM like:

41 42 10 40 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
C9 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

That will configure the MegaFlashROM SCC+ as a plain ROM cartridge that does nothing, and will disable the SCC/SCC+

@NYYRIKKI No, i meant disabling the SCC sound in particular, not the mapper itself (i don't mind if mapper get disabled too, doesn't matter) Smile The reasoning is that i wanted to use the real SCC in the slotexpander in one slot but boot from MFR in other slot (that's because i use Wavy 70FD and i wouldn't have my iron and other stuff for soldering here for the next few months, so no audio fix for a while). Thank you, i'll try that - it should also disable sound for my understanding (i just read to be sure that SCC uses memory mapped I/O for the sound programming so switching to other mapper should definitely turn it off).

@Guillian Thanks Manuel, i will try that. i see the ROM just returns (doing nothing), so it should continue booting, right? How does it differ from usual boot? Did I understand correctly that SCC is disabled by default and when you boot without flashed ROM it gets enabled, but if there's any ROM flashed then this enabler code is skipped (until the flashed ROM is actually Konami SCC ROM)?
