That will take a while on the slow bert...

What speed do you get with dosscan.com?

Seagate Cheetah 10K.7 ST373207LW, 73GB

This is the Type number.
It's a ULTRA U320 SCSI Drive

This is the adapter i used:

SCSI Male Male adapter

On Ebay, but not cheap

Maybe you can find it else where. I have this one for free, it's was a spare part for a server, and not used anymore.
But anyway. This combination is working here.

I will seek out for some more for free. If i find one i let you know also.

About the dosscan.. i will download this tool somewhere and let you know. I know the bert is slow but at leest i can backup my CF cards and the use of the CDROM is also not a bad thing. Anyway .. i know it's old but that is all the fun!

OK. Some first test results: All 64000 sectors.. pff and the bert is sloooow ... with this tool. I have to say in 'normal' use it's a bit slower (the bert compair to the sunrise) in feeling.... but not like this...

Turbo-r / BERT : 33 KBytes/sec
Turbo-r / Sunrise CF ATA : 175 KBytes/sec

8280 7Mhz / Sunrise CF ATA: 327 KBytes/sec
8280 3Mhz / Sunrise CF ATA: 161 Kbytes/sec
8280 7Mhz / BERT: 72 KBytes/sec
8280 3Mhz / BERT: 34 KBytes/sec

How is it possible that my turbo-r has slower results than the 8280 ? is this because the slot is always running on 3.5 mhz on a turbo-r ? So .. i think the ultra U320 10k disk is a bit to fast for this ? Smile

I was not able to test the megaflashrom because this one is in spain for the memory update Wink
(If the device is back from spain i will test it also.) But only on 3.5 Mhz because the megaflashrom cannot handle 7 Mhz on the slot.

Try DOSSCAN also on an MSX-DOS2 RAM disk on all those configurations....

My Novaxis SCSI interface got about 400kB/s on turboR in R800 DRAM mode and about 100kB/s on MSX2, if I all remember that correctly.

400KB/s that's fast! Is there also a driver for the cdrom on the Novaxis ?

Yes, I have a SCSI tower with 2x 1GB harddrive, 1x MO drive (removable MO disks of 120MB each) and a SCSI-CD-ROM drive. Works all quite nicely.

I haven't had it on in years though...

Those scsi harddrive's i see every day at work. I'm working at PC/Laptop/Server/Tablet test place at Infotheek.
I think most of them go to scrap (read destroyed).

Yes, I know... these are used in servers also. The one I have was a spare part, and indeed this server is also going to the scrap.. But beware that they are very useful for a SCSI MSX interface. Big smile
