Arkanoid 1 & 2 Paddles

Hello everyone!. I please would like to ask some help with this. I have Arkanoid 1 Cartridge with the original pad and Arkanoid II also with its pad. Both pads are not working properly in neither Arkanoid. The button works ok but the rotating knob is not. When I trun the knob right, the Arkanoid appears instantly on the right of the screen, it does not move smoothly throughout the screen from left to right as it is supposed. The same happens on the left, when I turn the rotating knob to the left, the Arkanoid appears directly on the left instead of performing the convection movement from right to left. I opened both pads, and they seem to be ok. One thing I noticed is that the red cable is not connected in any of the pads.
The pads need to be claibrated somehow?. Maybe something is wrong with both pads?. Thank you.
