On a mission? Hannibal

Okay, I did not know that. Odd though for a tool that implies to increase accuracy...

You may have found it in the meantime, but from the Tools' README:

Does what is says - it rounds all delays to frames.

WARNING:
You should NOT use this tool unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.
The only time you may want to use this tool is when:
- You are logging Sega Master System or Sega Game Gear music.
- AND you are logging with Kega Fusion. (NOT Meka or MAME, because those don't log at 60.00 Hz in sample-accurate mode)
Even then, make sure the left/right errors aren't too high, else you will introduce jitter.

I have not tried it, the main reason being it is not officially accepted at vgmrips.net (last time I checked at least). I guess it has not been validated to be accurate.

According to his pack notes: niekniek used it for SD Snatcher.

Hmm, I was thinking.. perhaps a worthwhile endeavor to create a ripping for MSX guide? Authored (initially) by say you, niekniek & Grauw. Could be on a wiki page either here or @ vgmrips.net?

What is that nekplay thing you record with? What kind of thing is that?

I used that tool? oO I don't remember and I can't check vgmrips.net now since it's down.

I'm willing to help on some guide. There's several ways of doing it, we should describe them all so the user can choose. Obviously I'm biased. Wink

Well I started off by reading the Submission Rules & Info on vgmrips.net. In the 4th post you see the list of allowed tools to create the rips which also includes a link to the VGM Creators topic. For MSX that left openMSX and NEZplay as viable options.

I used openMSX for the MicroCabin packs and NEZplay for the Konami packs. NEZplay is a Windows based replayer that supports playing back .kss a.o. whilst optionally logging to vgm.

There's also the MAME/MESS mod used by various authors (e.g. GTheGuardian (Space Manbow) & The Green Herring (Solid Snake))

Thanks! Sorry for causing more work Smile.

ValleyBell once mentioned that he was considering removing vgm_facc from the precompiled binary distribution of VGMTools for Windows, exactly to avoid the confusion like this that happens every once in a while. Someone who really needs it would have to compile it from source. You could remind him of that plan.

No worries! Working on Illusion City now and then will continue with new packs. Has anyone played Shalom? In the .kss there are a lot of tracks just labeled as ‘Event’ so any help making that a bit less generic would be appreciated!

@sdsnatcher73: Just a heads up, Video Hustler (MSX, SCC-I) doesn't have any GD3 tags. Everything else seems fine. Smile
