Hi,
I would like to know how to convert SCC to midi the same way Jan Van Valburg did in his Vampire Killer SCC version. I downloaded his source code, but I'm not a programmer so I have no idea how to use it. I also found out about psg2mid but I heard it sucks and it runs on DOS, and I still don't know how to program, and there are no instructions for either programs. I would like to convert SCC to midi so that I can use it in my DAW (cubase). Right now I just use TriloTracker for SCC, and MoonBlaster. I would appreciate some help!

Jan van Valburg used Ableton in which he remade the music from scratch by hand. After that he compiled it with home made tools.

Oh, so it's not really re-doable for the average joe musician?
I don't know if there is a way I could contact him how to use his source code to convert the midi.

You might find his e-mail address in his user profile. If you can not see it, he hid it.
Back when he worked on it we had contact through facebook. I left that place, but he might still be there.

Ah, seems like he hid it. Thanks anyways man, I love your stuff too. Just got into making msx music on emulators.

Using an emulator can give you the tools to record music per channel. That way you can make 1:1 conversions without too much trouble. I did a video on that long ago, but it still works like that. In this example I entered the found notes in Moonblaster, but you're free to put those notes anywhere you like ;)

Oh holy crap you can do that with OpenMSX! I could then sample the pitches. On a side note, I'm looking for some instruments for moonblaster wave. I found out about MBWAV through your song The Smoke (Amorphis), and you shared the MWM file in a link on youtube but the link expired. Could you possibly send me a link to the MWM file if it is still up somewhere?

Then you probably found Fixato's upload of the song. Mine has a working link (in the reply) to the music collection it was part of.

For PSG (AY8910 & SN76489) (and e.g. YM2413/OPLL as well) you can have a look at https://vgmrips.net/wiki/Vgm2mid

I don't think SCC/K051649 is supported though.
Results may be so-so, YMMV :)

-edit: oh, but check out https://github.com/kuma4649/MDPlayer as well, last time I checked it had some interesting features / WIP stuff :)

Yeah I checked out Vgm2mid, it doesn't retain the instruments just the notes being played, so naturally it wouldn't work with scc. Thanks anyways, and I'll keep up with MDPlayer to see if they add SCC to the list Smile
