What's the difference between a player and replayer?

After so many years, I must confess I have always found a bit confusing how the term "replayer" is used in the MSX community. We have a lot of "music replayers" out there, but I don't understand the difference with a "music player".

In my mind a replayer is code meant to be embedded in another program, like a game, while a player is a standalone program.
