Ok, let's agree that Konami games will play, sound will not be accurate on Nemesis 2, F1-Spirit, Salamander, Parodius, Kings Valley 2 and Nemesis 3 and some homebrew games that use it as well.

Did not know it is costing 70 euros, that seems excessive for the 512KB version of SD Mapper... Sad to see prices going as high as this... Here in Brazil we pay about 60 euros for the 1MB version of it... Was expecting it to cost about 50 euros, thanks for the reality check about the prices Smile

SD mapper should cost <50€.
If you have the experience to assemble electronic circuits, you could buy the parts on ALI and a complete board (with case) will cost you 15 to 30€ depending on quantity (as shipping cost for parts will be diluted).
70 Eur it's a bit excessive nowadays, considering that sometimes these cards are "hidden" and sold as generic "multi game collections" (i/e pirated collections).
I've seen these "collection" carts sold on Ebay a few times, and when the bidders didn't engage in bidding wars the final prices were in the ~40€ range.

The Metal Dragon cart could also possibly be (or at least could have similar specs to) an SD512. Look at the picture:

I can't see the switches, but it also has 512Kb RAM according to the seller.

This will give fits to gdx as it seems to have tinned contacts :P

Metal Dragon uses the MSX SD Mapper. This is a fork of the SD-512.

In this fork of the original project, one of the SD card slots has been removed, and the position of the slot has been moved so that the SD card, is inside the cartridge case. The activity LEDs have also been eliminated and the switches by welding jumpers.

The SD Mapper thing (512K Mapper/Megaram, SD) on ebay costs even more (currently 100 Pounds / €117 / $138)

No, the SD-512 (aka 8bit4ever version) is a rework/derivative of Belavenuto's original SD-Mapper card project.
There are a few variants of the design (different PCBs/SD slots) and then there's the Altera based version, or re-implementation.
Anyway, thanks for confirming it's an SD mapper card! And please excuse me if sometimes I call these cards "SD512" instead of SD-Mapper.

Yes, but what I wanted to convey is that if Metal dragon can be sold for 55€, then the cart should cost less than that.

My bad. They are both based on Belavenuto's work, and are not related to each other. The Carmeloco version I linked to has been designed to be used with games. You can't access the SD card easily (maybe put a wifi sd card in? Tongue ) and it's stuck in mapper mode cause the switches have been removed.

A good price is not the only thing to consider. There is also the quality, the country of sale and the seller. There are sellers who ignore you when problems arise.

Sending a packet from/to Brazil seems very random you are not in America.

60~70 euro is a fair price for a Mega-Mapper of quality (case, board with golden contacts, etc) which does not damage the MSX slot connector too quickly.

Guillian, Popolon and 8bit4ever for example are responsive in the event of a problem. (anyway I still think the MegaFlashRom SCC+SD+512 is 20 euro too expensive)
