About Gulkave : it's only the end of the normal mode ... when you enter in the test mode, you can listen to the musics or select the hard mode of the game ... and then you come to another end (with a different end message).

Okay, heres the Gulkave ending using hard mode.

ReyVGM, my previous Gulkave ending was under easy mode. Under the test mode it only says EASY or HARD, there is no selection for NORMAL mode.

Gulkave (hard mode) 0
Gulkave (hard mode) 1
Gulkave (hard mode) 2
Gulkave (hard mode) 3

rolins : you're right , just a little confusion with the SG-1000 version of the game (as you know, blueMSX supports also this system). In this version, EASY mode is called NORMAL mode.

hm, from the looks of gulkave, I think in my memory I might have it partially mixed up with macross.
I know macross is the one with transformations, but it doesn't have 'bases', right? but gulkave has?

Tho I'm not entirely sure about that, not so much for the concept of the savestate, but more for the fact that the last time I had a look on BlueMSX'es savestates, each state had the actual game zipped in it..

Wrong !

Excerpts from the manual :

"blueMSX saves the complete CPU state, including the emulated machine with all his specifications and the path to the rom, dsk or cas file of your game or application.

So don't try later to load a save state in another machine and don't change the place of your games on the harddisk !
It's also recommended to put your games in a directory with a simple path (for example : C:\MSX\Roms) before your first CPU save states if you have the intention to share them with other fans."

Since the beginning of the save state's implementation in blueMSX, the rom/dsk/cas file has never been saved in the save state, only the path to the file, it's a world of difference !!! You must have made a confusion with another emulator.

More explanations on the contents of the blueMSX save states are here :

Just make sure to let me know which images are for the last boss, get the full ending and make the snaps a bit smaller.
I think 256x240 res should be the correct one.

To get that resolution you can't take the snaps in BlueMSX while on 2x size or full screen, otherwise they come out huge.

Apparently, you know only the PrtScrn key for the screenshots, but blueMSX has two alternative ways to create screenshots :

http://www.msxblue.com/manual/screenshot.htm

Excerpt :

" You can choose between three features (the indicated hotkeys are the default blueMSX shortcuts) :
PrtScrn Saves a filtered screenshot (320 x 240 pixels in small window mode, 640 x 480 pixels in large window mode or in fullscreen mode).
RAlt+F11 Saves a small unfiltered screenshot (272 x 240 pixels).
RAlt+F12 Saves a large unfiltered screenshot (544 x 480 pixels)."

BTW, how do I create a data disk or user disk?
I tried playing Ys2 with BluMSX and it asked me to insert a 'datadisk' (some games ask for userdisk) or it wouldn't start.

You need to create an empty new disk image and to format it.

See this page of the blueMSX manual :

http://www.msxblue.com/manual/creatingdsk.htm

If you want to create directly a formatted and empty new disk image, the best tool is DiskManager (on the RuMSX site), as it has been already suggested in this thread
