Hello,

Was wondering if anyone is familiar with this MSX datacorder.

I am unable to find anything about it online.

I found an Atari XC12 that looks exactly like it. Is it a re branded model of the same datacorder?

Your help is appreciated.

Never seen that model.
What's this joystick-like DB9 plug doing here? Is it linked to the usual datacorder wire?

No idea. Unfortunately I do not have any cassettes to test it Sad

When I plug both wires I get power. That's all I know.

Aaah, it must be using the joystick +5V for its power supply! First time I see that. There's no other power plug?

Only the two you see.

I'm going to try to find me a cassette and try running it on it.

But was hoping to get some more info on the model, release date etc.

You'd better first use a crappy cassette for your first tests, the mechanisms might be dirty & sticky and eat your tape.
Also, the rubber belts inside the device might be weak or even broken.

It looks like it's in decent condition. You're right however. I'll try some crappy cassette.

Here's the label on the back:

The only "Made in Taiwan" related thing that comes to my mind right now are the lyrics of that song:
Ash - Kung Fu (Rumble in the Bronx)
Does not really help, I know :P ...

So, um, where did you get that thing anyway?

It came from Jordan. It was part of a lot of retro games and consoles that I have purchased from someone there.

I'll test it later today and report back.
