Not true. I know SW engineers that (at the beginning of the iOS APP STORE hype) made more than 20k USD per month with simple puzzle games.

With the quality we experience with *some* of the MSXDEV entries, I "BET" those groups could make way more than gathering bottles in a park. Nowadays (1 Billion APPS), of course, only with the correct marketing strategy...

Hm... so long thread and no focus.
If guy has no funds to pay for electricity or whatever, he requires urgent financing. Producing/releasing and then selling game is not even mid-term strategy (if we talk mid term for software = 3 months).
I do not know how it can be implemented, he needs a kind of account people can donate to. 30 people by 50 euros = 1500 euros. 100 people by 15 euros = 1500 euros. None is secured not to come to such a circumstances.

I fully agree. All this thread have a lot of 'inconsistencies'.
1) if there is urgent need of money, i think making sw ( especially for an ancient hw ) is not the right way to solve the problem.
2) i've not seen a single screen shot of this sw. This sound strange, if you think that many sw developers that does not have need of funds, show screen shot of their production just to involve others to buy.

I m so agree with Eugeny, but maybe the right focus should be to find him a Job that allow him to pay his bill, I m sure he has some coding talent that could help him to find a IT job ...
