There are some msx2 games that are remakes of msx1 ones.
some msx2 editions are worse (even if it is strange) than msx1 counterparts.
Outrun comes to mind.
Anyone remember other game titles that are worse on msx2 than on msx1?

Out Run for MSX2 worse than U.S. Gold's MSX1 port from ZX Spectrum? No way! The MSX2 version is undoubtedly better. I have finished the MSX2 version several times while the MSX1 becomes unplayable after stage 1 (only 3 lanes at the most part of the road with a lot of traffic and controls are terrible, not to mention the overall choppiness).

the music is worse, i think somewhat terrible, the same music on the zx spectrum port is far better.
anyway the purpose of this topic is to have a list of bad msx2 versions of msx1 games...

didn't know xanadu. watching on you tube i cannot believe the msx2 version is almost monochrome.
i cannot justify how the coders could made a similar piece of s...t that's simply incredible.

Triton is what the msx version is called. Xanadu is a lazy pc88 port on msx2 and a dedicated game on msx1. That game can be so much better it is not even funny. And Xanadu is a very good game otherwise. I do wander how hard it should be to port xanadu scenario 2 to the msx 2 version seeing it is a lazy port... But man do I wish for a nice graphics and music version suiting an MSX2 version...

Simple: a cheap PC-88 port.
EDIT: oh, Randam already said it.

By the way: I believe the game is calleld Tritorn. But I have seen Triton many times... (The katakana can mean both...)

Well ... this is not the case really.
Tritorn (MSX) Super Tritorn (MSX2) are basically the same game (correct me if I am wrong), but MSX 2 version lacks of some nice animations in the opening screen, scroll between screens and it is slightly slower than MSX version.
The "save to cassette" and "load from cassette" options are removed from MSX version too.

Another cuasi-example: Laydock and Super Laydock.
For me, Laydock is a dull and very-hard-to-play game, while Super Laydock is hard to play too but, more funny.
Choppy scroll, (the Japanese way, as usual) but has more animations.
