I'm not very familiar with DOS, but as I'm trying to make VGM work, I need the DOS2 to boot.
And I cannot succed in doing so ... Very very frustrating Crazy

I've downloaded the DOS2.40 here
Made a DSK image and tried it on HB-700F and NMS-8255, both on BlueMSX and Openmsx.
It does not work, the MSX boots into BASIC and CALL SYSTEM does nothing.

I've downloaded a DOS2.20 dsk image here
Same thing.

How the hell do you make DOS2.x boot ????????

Insert too the MSX-DOS2 cartridge or use a disk interface with the MSX-DOS2 or Nextor integrated.

https://www.msx.org/wiki/MSX-DOS2

If you need the both cartridge slots, try MiSiX.

Thanks ... I thought MSX-DOS2 was working with MSX2 computers.
I had no idea that you needed Turbo-R to make it work (or a dedicated MSX-DOS2 cartridge).

This is because the DOS kernel isn't in the disk. Floppy disk interfaces usually (always?) have only the DOS1 kernel. Turbo-R is an exception because it has an internal DOS2 kernel, which is normally provided on an external cartridge. If you want to have the most hassle-free experience possible, just use a Turbo-R configuration. But if you want to try different MSX models, use the MSX-DOS2 cartridge and select a model with plenty of RAM or insert a Memory Mapper RAM cartridge. Also, you don't need to make a disk image, since you can just drop the files on a folder and use it as a disk.

MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD has a Nextor (DOS2) ROM, can’t you use that?
