RC3 is now out, and is now feature-equivalent on both Snow Leopard and Lion (though it will use the infinitely nicer full-screen mode on Lion).

I'm still encountering the input bug when reloading a save snapshot.
To reproduce: Load a game (in my case, Deep Dungeon Adventure), stand still in a location, save snapshot, load the same snapshot. Suddenly it keeps pressing a key, and I expect it to be the spacebar.
Pressing the key myself doesn't seem to override and no other inputs are accepted. I've checked the preferences and no joystick/mouse device is specified.

Update:
That's odd.. After I've added more machines to CocoaMSX I am unable to reproduce this bug. At least with newly created snapshots.

Update2:
Upon further examination, the bug only seems to occur when using the C-BIOS machine.

A couple of other notes:

  • I would suggest to disable entering a disk when the selected machine doesn't support a disk rom.
  • Is it possible to remember the last used directory *per* device? You already seem to force the snapshot directory when saving/loading snapshots, but as a result whenever I try to load a rom or disk afterwards, I have to browse to my roms or disk images directory again as it is using the snapshots directory. I would suggest to keep track of the last used rom directory, disk directory and snapshot directory separately.
  • Add cmd+p as pause shortcut.
  • Help menu still shows "NewApplication Help"

Another suggestion: add a 'reload' option to the machines list, so I don't have to restart the emulator after I've used the Show in Finder option to locate the folder to add new machines to it.

Otherwise things seem to be working nicely Smile Though I haven't really tried changing any of the keyboard mappings.

First release version of CocoaMSX is now out!

It should address all of your (FiXato's) concerns, as well as fix a number of bugs.

My first post in a long time. But this release is worth it. Finally we have an emulator for OSX that is very easy to use and configure. Sure, openMSX is a great emulator as well, but I was really waiting for something like CocoaMSX. I love it, great job!

CocoaMSX comes only with the C-BIOS roms.

However, you can find on the Resource page of the blueMSX website many generic and specific machines that can also be used with CocoaMSX.

I've just added a full package with 31 generic MSX machines (including the Shared Roms sub-directory).

Can you explain the keyboard editor a bit, because no matter which layout I pick, using a MSX turboR machine will still put the " at shift+2 instead of shift+'. I was hoping that using a European layout would automatically map this correctly.
