Hi,
After more than 30 years I'm still in love with the MSX. I started coding basic when I was 6 on a P2000-T with 16kb RAM. Then my father bought us an MSX-2. Although the games were great on this Machine, I wanted to write programs on this great machine. And I did... but never really finished anything worthy to release to the public. But I kept learning, writing and testing assembler programs over the years.
I'm currently working on a few (assembler) projects. One of them is a demo I'd hope to release at some Oldskool demo comp one day. Also a few tools and I have some ideas for a game as well in the future.

But I would like to work together with someone. Not only to create software together but to exchange ideas and motivate each other in creating great software for MSX. As a lot of things in life: 2 heads are better than one.

So what am I looking for (and what I bring myself):

  • My preference is for someone who lives in the Netherlands (because this helps with communication), but I am of course open to non-Dutch people.
  • Someone who is willing to invest a few hours a week to work on projects together.
  • Someone who speaks Z80 assembler fluently and knows the V9938 / V9958 like the back of their hand.
  • Experience with writing music, creating graphic or even writing demo's is a (big) plus
  • Someone who dares to Make MSX Great Again ;-)

Please let me know if you would like to schedule a voice or chat meeting or if you have questions first. Maybe we could set up a discord group or something with a small group of coders. Not too big at first.

My personal plan is to break every "limit" MSX is supposed to have and show the world what a great machine this is!

I hope you find a partner! And looking forward to projects that try to break the limits, there's a few over the past years that are pushing the boundaries of what we thought was possible more and more. But I am sure there is still room for even more impressive things! Big smile

I hope you will find a team to use your assembler skills for new amazing MSX projects!

On my side, I do mostly C (for the MSXgl library) and even if I program a little in assembler, it's not a language I'm very comfortable with. I sometimes optimize some simple functions of the library in assembler but there are others that I haven't had the courage to convert yet.

I have a lot of respect for those who make complete projects in assembler.

Good luck!

Hi there,
I am in the Netherlands (EHV), but also do mostly C and my commitment is somewhat irregular (nerd with a life here), but I do stuff and have some ongoing projects that would be more fun if shared.

We can talk if you want, email in profile.

There is no mail address in your profile. Well, I want to learn assembly. I code mostly in C nowadays (Turbo Pascal previously). And have some time during the week.Drop me an e-mail if interested, it is in my profile.

@geijoenr and @raymond Thanx for reacting. I'll contact you asap.
I have no experience with C on MSX but I would like to learn. In turn I would be happy to help in learning to code Assembler and/or discover the inner workings of MSX.

btw: I added an email address to my profile now.

If you have any questions about C for MSX, I could probably be of some help. Smile

Hello Badsector, if I can help you with pixel art design, asm and c coding, please let me know, unfortunately I’m from Belgium.
Always happy to participate to a new project Smile

That's nothing to be ashamed about :D

But I hope you speak/read dutch or else you're not gonna understand the mail I'm sending you after this. :)
(If not, my English is fine too)

Another Belgian here (no worries about Dutch Wink ). I'd very much like to start learning coding for msx properly, but so far I've lacked motivation because I didn't really have a concrete goal in mind. Perhaps it's time I had another look at some of the material I have lying about...again. Big smile
