Was recently release a new game Castlevania for zx spectrum. Development of game lasted two years. The game was very high quality! Anybody can take up conversion of game on MSX? I can provide source code in a week.

It can for sure interest MSX fans, especially those who prefer the first MSX generation.

Note that there is a MSX1 game clearly inspired by Vampire Killer/Castlevania, it was the great winner of the MSXdev'05 contest : The Cure, available on this site : http://msxdev.msxblue.com/?page_id=116

DJs3000, are you the developer of this new Castlevania game for ZX spectrum? I saw a video of it running, it's looks really great, and it would be really cool to have it on MSX as well. Smile Congratulations for this amazing work ! Smile

No I'm not a developer Smile I have contact with the developer. In 2014, I organized the contest. Castlevania participated in the contest as a demo. Really want to get a good game on the MSX. Can ask the original artist Castlevania, alter graphics for MSX1 or MSX2.

I see. Well, in that case, thanks for your effort in helping bringing this great game to MSX. :)

extremely good quality.
converting this game to msx1 require however to turn sw sprites into hw ones, in order to minimize colour clash.
msx hw sprites are wide at maximum 16 pixels, do you use sw sprites wider than that usually?

plus the graphics could take advantage of pattern mode instead of pure bitmap. this is because msx vram access is slower than on speccy.

plus there is a caveat. the 128kram. plain msx 1 machines are 64k

There is no need to have 128Kb of Ram if game is in cartridge form (rom).
