About matching mulana. One could have a "more than 256 chars per level" method.

Too bad to hear MOAM is on hold. Crying It's a game most if not all msx-ers have been looking forward to. Hopefully the project will be resurrected somewhere in the future. Whether it would be MSX 1 or 2 it would be an awesome game. The stuff you made for this game I saw and heard on youtube and here is just genious. It would be real sad if it was never finished. If you need help, I'd bet many would be willing to lend a hand.

Before 2011, I never really felt like going to msx fairs and events. But the first event I went to was MRC 2k11.

So why did I decide to visit this event all of a sudden?

Half of the reason for going was, that they were going to demonstrate MOAM.
The other half of the reason for going was, that they were going to demonstrate DEVA.

Double "doh!" oO
yes feel my sadness :/

Ah well I met some nice people there, who got me more involved into the msx scene with coding, more fairs, meetings and irc chat etc, so its all good Big smile

Probably resurrecting one of the last msx1 build, one could just complete level design and publish something just fine, dropping the incomplete features. It is in any case a lot of work and it will not happen very soon.

There is a lot of great games not released and some of them are very advanced... please, don´t let us to taste the honey and after take it Big smile

The demo of MOAM that I saw time ago was impressive. I hope you find time and motivation to finish this game. You have a buyer, player, prayer... killer for this game! XD

There are more great wip games like Deva, SFII, Crisis Core, Terror Relevation, Wing Warriors, D.A.R.C, Los Templos de Fuego, Super Mario World, Ghost and Goblins, ASO ... oh man... astounding

The #msxdev Compo has an encouragement prize for games like these. People wanting to see these games finshed could donate towards the prize pot.

Your list of WIP games is impressive but sadly not even complete. I would like to add Cypher, GuruLogiChamp and Hyper Soldier Angel. When you go back into the 90s the list becomes even bigger. Sad

I think some time ago I heard it was going MSX2.
I wanted to ask about keeping it MSX1.
Because the tiles are epic screen 2 tiles.

They are also epic screen 4 tiles...

You just hit the nail on the head. Smile Just wait until you see the multi-colored sprites. That's one of the aspects in which the merits of using the MSX2 VDP really become clear as well.
And in screen 4, we can do even bigger and faster tile animations.

Indeed, the screen4 version has epic stuff both tiles and sprites-wise... from what I have seen during nijmegen this year (huey showed me some stuff).. they are really great pieces of work . It was clear that already a lot of work had been put into it.

MSX2. The main deal is different palette. But one thing the same as MSX1 palette: what I like about 9918 is that is has such close colors.
Its lack of dark colors = more close colors on the rest. Like having a bigger color resolution DAC.

What I described could end up in palette like Amiga Psygnosis game:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wgqmr4BJsLQ&t=13m10s
call me mad, but the 9918 fan complains about lack of color variety in Amiga dualplayfield games (a layer got 8 colors).

ok go fetch a Wii to match the 9918 thing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buoR0bOTi50
I like the colors at
0:40 stones, inspired by color 11,9.
0:44 white green gray, 3 colors. then each of the 3 get the closest possible darker version for use in linecolor.
hopefuly getting no DAC resolution problems. sometimes can try to not decrement all three of r,g,b.
6 colors, together with black and transparent, it would be 8 colors and amiga dualplayfield already exhausted. that's why no such style there.
while a 16 color game might try a third step of said three colors.

1:06 oooh beautiful. the inspiration cant have been coming from a psygnosis amiga, it gotta have been a 9918.
:D
