Never heard of it before, but it does seem to exist:
NMS801
quite ugly if you ask me...
plus, I thought the MSX standard dictates an MSX machine should have at least one cartridge-slot. If that's true then this is not a _true_ MSX.

eh, whaz an nms 801??

Strange MSX machine made by Philips and only sold in Italy as a "package" with a tape recorder and some games.

Definately not a VG8010 but just as bad Smile

I visited Dimi about a year ago,
if I'm not mistaken he has more than one NMS-801 Smile

Less one then, since I got mine from him Smile

Dunno, just because it's a strange one I guess ?

What's funny is that when you boot it, it says "Basic version 3.0" ! But it's plain old basic 1.0 with some function keys redefined.

BTW, did anyone got a manual with that thing ?

wow there are even different versions, the picture I found doesn't have COMPUTER written in differently colored letters Smile

btw it says 'MSX compatible' so this must mean it's not an MSX Tongue

Yeah, on the box it even says MSX-DOS compatible. Now how do you run MSX DOS in a machine that doesn't even have a cartridge port ? Smile

Maybe it has a diskROM built-in?

Anyway, I see it says "MSX Compatible" but doesn't have an MSX logo anywhere. That could mean it was produced without a license.

Nope, no diskrom of any kind, you can't connect a diskdrive to it anyway.

Strange to see that Philips would produce a MSX1 so late (some of the games that came with it are from the very late 80ies) AND without a licence...

Maybe they had spare parts to get rid of...
