What version of the firmware is he using, can you tell?
If the title screen shows "Firmware: #.##" then it should be quite ancient, maybe some version from 2016-2017.
it shows #.###

Hi foody.
Congratulations for your new C2. Is one of the best cartridges ever made for MSX.
Mine is working like a charm with the latest .pof and .bin versions (2.50 Beta 3).
All steps needed to update the C2 are described in the User Guide: https://github.com/RBSC/Carnivore2/tree/master/Doc
Does that mean my MSX2 now have 1.5 MB because of the carnivore2 and megaflash? My Megaflash provides 512 KB and the carnivore2 provides 1 MB
That is correct, plus the original 64kB. But unfortunately there isn't a lot of software making use of it, especially when the RAM is spread over multiple slots/mappers.
It's complicated...
@hamlet: nice idea for the next christmas quiz: Given this (or a similar) setup, how much RAM in bytes is available?
We've already done this. And people hated me for.
Thanks to Spectravideo's advertisements, as a kid I always dreamed about having a 64K cartridge for my SVI 728. How great would it be to have more than 28K free memory? Yeah, yeah, I know now. And yet, if one of them outrageously large SVI 747 cartridges crosses my path today I would still be tempted.

I didn't loved it!
