because I feel new games that use fm-pac are using instructions in fm-pac that are in 2020 or 2019 and not in the old version that this carnivore2 have
Amazing O_o. This is one community I have seen in my life that actually discourages upgrade or improving your hardware.
I am going to upgrade it regardless....and enjoy it. It is just a cartridge.
Nothing wrong with upgrading of course, it just was not clear to Grauw and Manuel that you got the C2 booting with your CF card. The FM-PAC function will not change with the upgrade though, there is no old or 2021 FM-PAC… ah well there is only old and C2 has a decent implementation of the old functionality.
The version 2.50 that is currently in Beta testing (files were shared with the community) has the hardware fix for FMPAC drums, so the firmware upgrade really makes sense. Besides, the latest upgrade will bring you the latest bugfixes and some useful features, for example Dual-PSG, configurable Autorun, ID&Control port, fixed ASCII mapper and so on.
You can buy USB Blaster here:

We recommend to upgrade the firmware by powering the cartridge by a simple power cable made of an old USB cable. See the cartridge's manual for illustrated instructions.
I think you should have asked the seller to perform the latest update. It would have saved you from having to purchase a USB blaster because it is useful only for major updates.

This is not the case. They advised you to wait a bit and update when you are more familiar with this interface.
You can purchase a USB blaster on ebay or amazon for example.

But I did. I am able to use sofaRun. I am able to go to nextor DOS. I have uploaded nextor and command2 and it works great. I am even able to flash ROM through sofaRUN and load.
Ah ok, I thought you were still having issues. In that case, never mind!

Hey, you hadn’t clearly stated that you got things working, so I was under the impression that you were attempting to do the upgrade in order to make it work. Which didn’t seem like the best course of action to me. Just giving advice, you don’t need to be salty about it…
Apology for the misunderstanding and I take full blame on it. Please accept my fullest apology, thank you Alexey for helping me all the way!! I got it updated the firmware, the boot and fm-pac. All what is left is getting the pof to be updated. I am going to order the usb blaster and then upgrade the pof. Then I will officially have a full functioning carnivore2 as if I bought it from the store. I am thankful I went through all these experience of flashing, destroying, reflashing and using usb blaster. All these are training experience to get me full ready to use it and fix it, should I brick it. I am enjoying this cartridge fully.

Great to hear!
The firmware (POF) still needs to be updated with USB Blaster. But you successfully revived your cartridge by initializing the directory, flashing the Boot Menu, IDE BIOS and FMPAC BIOS. And thanks to you, we now know that the latest Beta version of Boot Menu (2.50) works with ancient firmware without any issues. Certain latest features are, of course, not available, but it still does the main job - runs games.
What version of the firmware is he using, can you tell?
