The MSX Mini Replica is a totally-unnofficial, totally-homebrew remake of the MSX Home Computer.

Features a fully functional replica of the classical MSX Philips VG-8020 made on a 1:2 scale that can run MSX, MSX2, MSX2+ and MSX turbo R games and applications.

Main Features:

  • Can run MSX, MSX2, MSX2+ and MSX turbo R software.
  • It can work as the original computer, starting on BASIC or DOS, or can start any game directly using the launch interface.
  • Can load games preserved from cartridges, tapes and disks in the most popular formats (.DSK, .CAS, .ROM).
  • New games can be easily added trough the USB port.
  • High Definition output at 720p via HDMI.
  • Pixel Perfect graphics at 4:3 ratio, with full width, customizable CRT filter.
  • Options to save/load game status and insert cheats (pokes).
  • 2 USB ports: plug in a USB keyboard and use as a fully functional home computer with BASIC or add a second joystick for 2-player games.
  • Compatible with any digital USB joystick or joypad, including the C64 Mini Joystick.
  • Compatible with the original MSX joysticks using an adapter (not included).
  • Note: The keyboard keys are non-functional.

The MSX Player Mini is a device to play original MSX cartridges on The MSX Mini Replica. It works in a similar way to the classic MSX Game Reader by ASCII. It can be connected to the MSX Mini Replica trough any of the USB ports of the computer.

How to order
Please consider that this is a totally fan-based development. For the moment, the developer can't accept further orders because he needs to find a new affordable provider to print the circuit boards. However, if you are interested, send a message they will contact you when they be able to order a new bunch. The intention is that any MSX Mini Replica should not cost over 90 Euros per unit.

Is there an error in the scale? I don't think it is 1:50 becasue it looks more like 1:5 or 1:10 or so... 1 to 50 would be more like having a centimeter width, too small Smile

Yes, I guess it is a 1:2 scale. I changed that, thanks!

Already have it. It is quite nice to have all Tosec games with that beautiful menu (covers included), perfect video quality (hdmi) and sound without the awful signal noise of our MSX. I also bought an 8bitdo joystick and the experience is really nice. I insist: no more multimente and a visual game menu with game cover and description!

The other side of the coin is that the MSX player is slow.

Anyway, I prefer an OCM that behaves like a real MSX.

PS: My MSX has sound without the awful signal noise. Wink

I was wondering the same, cause on my RetroPie I got OpenMSX doing the emulation within the RetroArch menu.
BlueMSX is windows only right (I can only find Windows version on their website), so that would mean that it is probably not BlueMSX based and should mention which emulator it is using with the correct licencing actments.

Msx.emu is an android emulator based on bluemsx so it's not windows only.

My assumption was based on the fact that OpenMSX is easily installed into the RetroPie (RetroArch), there are detailed instructions about this. I also run OpenMSX on my RetroPie this way.
Now after some searching I also see lr-bluemsx is installed on retropie, never realised that Wink .
So now I also wonder which one is MSX Mini using. Smile

I watched the video and saw blueMsx was used. I also allready own an retropie arcade system with a MSX section, so i'll pass for this one.
Check video to see it's using blueMSX. https://youtu.be/sF6ShjY1inA?t=230 (skip to 3:50)

Okay, so I got my msx mini (10 actually) this weekend and I love it! It works like a charm. Adding new games can be difficult if your a msx mini noob like me, but it is compensated by the excellent support. If you mail a question, reponse is very fast and very extensive. I had some problems due too my own ignorance, and could solve it easely with their help.
And to answer my own question from 28-12, yes the kid, homebrew ain't a problem. scc, moonsound, music module, they all work. And transfering games by wifi is very handy aswell. So if you have doubts, don't, buy it and support these guys. And like you could see in the snatcher act 3 topic, it works also haha.
