Allegedly unused, it's a little expansive for a MSX 1, I guess:

https://www.jauce.com/auction/r425736439

Less than one hour to end.

Does it worth?
Is this model rare?
How much the condition "unused" adds to the price?
Is there any way to know if is really unsed? Something it does only on the very first boot?

Any help would be appreciated. I really like this model.

Saludos

It seems that someone must have found a warehouse full of these things, a new PX-V60 will sell and another one is immediately listed. I actually paid over $300 for the one I bought 2 months ago, it seems the price is going down as more are listed. Does the seller have 2 more? 100 more? I guess we will know when the auctions stop.

Still waiting on mine from Japan. The PX-7s I bought to play Palcom LD games have all been a bust. I am hoping to have more luck here, because Palcom gaming is quickly turning into a money pit. I will let you know hopefully in 2 weeks or so if mine works or not.

They are rarish, not super common like Turbo-R or some other even more common models.

The bigger problem is that they are old. The components like electrolytic capacitors have already a very long age... Those components would need changing and also some other basic maintenance/checks done on computer. A lot of work, but still essential to do before it's too late. What makes it more difficult (and very unpredictable what are you bidding for) is that for example electrolytic capacitors will age differently depending from storaging conditions (like temperature) and also how often/how long times the device is used. Worst combination is a lot of temperature changes/high temperatures and very rare usage, if at all.

Yes always yugen2plus, quite a big seller in MSX and other PC stuff. There have been several PX-V60’s all unused with the box mostly deteriorated in sale by him. More than 5 but I don’t think more than 10. Just NOS sitting in a warehouse for too long I guess.

Mmm, box theory - my favorite.

Reminds me of buying a boxed Sony MSX that had clearly been in some sort of horrible fire. It smelled so bad, I still haven't removed it from the box.

If you have an attic or some other similar place without mices or birds, but a good free ventilation and minimal or no sunlight at all, get it there, remove everything from the box and place freely around. Let be few months and most of the smell should have vanished. Open also computer case for getting inside of the computer ventilated.

If you have no such place, get the stuff ozonized. There are firms offering this service and you can even buy the device yourself.

It looks like to find an storage full of unused PX-V60 is not so uncommon (in portuguese, use google translator):

https://gamehall.com.br/loja-no-japao-ira-vender-msx-novos/

That was 5 years ago. I read somewhere (here on the wiki?) that this model was aimed at japanese schools. Maybe there was storages for reposition machines or for some school planned but not finished, etc.

I actually won one of these last week (when Yahoo was having issues) at a very reasonable ¥25000 (still a lot of money for an MSX1 of course Wink) I only got the information the deal went through today.
