I am also wondering what is the MSX OS like. "MSX DOS evolution form" sounds really mysterious. I really hope it is really an MSX-DOS evolution and not another Linux tune-up. Do not get me wrong, I love UNIX in general, but there are quite an abuse of the "new OS" term when most of the time it is just referring to Linux kernel with customized userland.

I think we need something else to feel we are in front of a new MSX, I mean not only about its internals but also physically (MSX look). On the other hand, what about the slots? Will all the official MSX hardware (MSX-AUDIO included) be supported? Also SCC?

I would love that too, but "Raspberry Pi" size rules all of this out. It will look like... well, a Raspberry Pi and I don't think we will have slots Smile

I'll buy one Smile currently I use this nice setup https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXmj7-PmxFw

https://www.sedai.it/v1/ it would be nice to have a fully licensed MSX running with all the cool features. I'm indeed curious how it will work and it it will be with or without a keyboard.

Not news ?
I prefer this, a true MSX (like C64 or Super Famicom mini) with few games included than by example MSXVR but....
Difficult to release it

Both examples (C64 mini and Super/Famicom mini) are like MSX-VR, an emulator running on an ARM processor...

There is still an difference between software emulation and FPGA based system.

The only difference is that FPGA is dedicated, so without operating system in between... And thus also directly generates audio and video in real time.

With bare-metal RPi programming there will be no OS layer as well, and it would be real-time as well, and i see that more and more people are looking in this direction. Recently mentioned Circle is a good starting point for Raspberry without OS though

Another difference is that FPGA can perform operations in parallel and can in theory perfectly model the original hardware, without latency.

And why MSXVR, for example have better compatibility than Zemmix/OCM?

I do not know enough about the nature of the MSXVR to include it in this list. But it won't be long before the release. I know, Pablo, you are a great supporter of the new technology, I am also very happy to have the device in my hands soon. But until then I can't claim to be able to make a comparison to FPGA based machines.
