Just got it in the mail today and I can't get any roms or disk images to load.
1. I formatted the SD card as described in the user manual and everything ok
2. Copied the roms and dsk images from my computer to sd card
3. Load the cart into Multimente, select 2 for SD card, I see all roms and dsk images no problem

The problem is when I hit enter on any rom I get this:

figured it out. Had to rename my files to .rom
guess it doesn’t accept .MX1 or .MX2

Now that I have a rom loaded, it’s stuck and doesn’t want to let me change rom by hitting Escape on boot. So I booted into recovery to try to erase it with F1 but F1 does absolutely nothing. So I’m stuck with 1 rom loaded on this thing. Great

It does accept MX1 and MX2 or anything you want.
Multi Mente didn't have these two extensions in its file assignment database and therefore treated them like ASCII TXT files and opened an ASCII editor. You can add them yourself if you want by editing MMRET.DAT in the MM directory.

This will be hard if you use ROM disk since that's read only. Solution: Copy the complete content of ROM disk to your SD card and remove the ROM disk after booting your MSX with the UP key pressed.

You won't notice anything different than before. You just get complete control over your first partition Wink

I can no longer boot into multimente, The rom is stuck and won't let me change it. even tried erasing the sd kernel, and re-installing the kernel. Still can't get back into multimente with ESC

I don't know what to say about this thing.

Do you remember what you did just before this happened?

It is quite strange that F1 does not erase a flashed ROM. It is the first time I heard it

Which ROM is stuck? Can you describe the steps you followed to load it?

Could be interesting to know which ROM file you loaded too.

The rom was Parodius. After many attempts and re-boots it let me get back into Multimente and I hit Q to exit and used the “OPFXSD /C” command and it erased the flash. Tried another rom and same thing it got stuck. Went through it all again with recovery, erased sd kernel, install kernel, re-boot many times and finally got back in multimente again. I erased the flash again with the OPFXSD /C command and now I don’t dare load another rom.

I’m able to hold R on boot now so atleast I can load a disk and still use the SCC and 512kb ram and play games off floppy

anyway, this cart is not for me and I won’t be trying it again. I’ll stick to original carts

You don't need to erase/reinstall the kernel. You only need to hold DEL key to skip the ROM.
If you want to erase the ROM, you can use F1 option in recovery menu.

Holding R key does not affect flashed ROMs. So it seems you loaded a DSK game, not a ROM.
Check user's manual page 17 about how to manage DSK games.

Holding DEL Key does not work, F1 in recovery does not work, my only option and only thing left I could do was erase/reinstall the kernel and I managed to get back into multimente by doing so.

I indeed flashed a rom to the cart and not disk images. The roms I flashed could actually be played. I know the difference between roms and disk images.

I have contacted you through e-mail and doesn't seem like you're very willing to refund my money even though you shipped it in absolutely 0 protective packaging, just an envelope and you want me to ship it back at my expense and wait till it arrives so you can decide if you want to refund my money or not.

sorry to say I'm not very impressed with your cart or your service at the moment

You have to press ESC, not DEL.
Erasing the kernel does not eras the ROM in the cartridge, as any MegaFlashROM SD use can confirm.
It is quite clear that you are using the cartridge in a wrong way.

You asked for a refund BEFORE you return the cartridge to me. I'll refund it as soon as I get the cartridge back.

Is the cartridge damaged in any way due to shipping?
