Need to find the strength to go back on Laydock 2 again (I don't want to cheat)... I'm just a bit drunk after BBQ today, but maybe that could help?

Meits, I will have a look at your music disk (already downloaded), just need to switch some cables on my installation to have the real MSX-MUSIC & MSX-AUDIO stereo.

@JohnHassink,
You're quite right about Daiva 5, Undeadline and Aleste 2. If you use the right strategy in these games, you can beat them consistently (not saying it's easy, but still doable). I really enjoyed all of these games, but in Laydock 2, for now, I have no real strategy that really works, at least in single player mode. Maybe I just need to wait for a shmup-fanatic friend to pass by my home? My wife will not be a great shmup partner, even if she does not mind attending MSX fairs in Nijmegen Wink

I use Red Bull to slow down game speed and herbal inhalants to smooth scrolling. Sometimes it gives a great gameplay feeling. Sometimes don´t, of course. As my girlfriend told me a lot about the Moselle bicycle tour she did this year, I´m backed out to come to visit you by bicycle. But I will train for your visit in Stuttgart. I played Super Laydock with Mi-Chi a few weeks ago, and we was much better than 20 years ago. But didn´t come to far anyway. Maybe the herbal inhalants was the reason for that. And for smooth scrolling.

My feel about Laydock 2 is that, joining the characters moving with the scroll plus random movement from them, is chaotic. I like shumps with well designed levels, and squads, the enemies set in the correct place combining with others and each one with it corresponding and defined behavior.

Hi there.
This conversation got me really excited to try out this maybe good/maybe not so good-game. I love Laydock and Super Laydock. Those were really nice shooters... However I am an owner of a NMS 8250, so I've got no MSX2+ Crying . Do you know anyway to play Laydock 2 on a MSX 2? (that is without going solder operation on the internal chip-set)

best wishe /Sid

You can sort of play the first (top view) phase of the first stage on an MSX2. There will be quite some garbage on the screen and the locations of the ground targets won't be correct most of the time, but it's playable.
As soon as the second (side view) phase starts, everything goes to hell, though.

yeah, the first level goes crazy too Smile
The side scrolling does not work very nice, and you risk taking extra damage. I have no screenshot to show but basicly you fly into a big, block of horizontal blackness sort of.... when the side scrolling starts. Evil

You should not run it on a msx2.
