Amazing work!
You know, with the code you have, multidirectionnal scroll with moving platforms etc, there are so many hits from the arcade 80s that could be adapted... to MSX2 and v9990.
It would be nice to open source the code so that we could all port games and greatly extend the number of games on our dear MSX
Just a thought...
FM.
No?
Hello folks! Hope everyone is well and safe.
A few months ago I bought the digital version of Ghost and Goblins, tested on an emulator, ok. This week I received my V9990 (by Tecnobytes) and I couldn't run the game in my Panasonic FSA1-WX MSX2+ equipped with 256KB RAM. I tried running it from my 512KB SD Megaram/Mapper, and also from my 1MB MegaFlashROM SCC+ by Pazos, to no avail. In both cases, it says that the computer doesn't have enough MegaRAM memory. Must I have a 2MB MegaFlashROM in order to run the game in an actual MSX?
Thanks in advance, kind regards, Emmanoel
MegaRAM memory?
Are you running it from Sofarun?
If that's the case, try flashing it with the opfxsd tool from DOS or by pressing ENTER/RETURN over the rom from MultiMente.
It's a 2MB game, so you need a 2MB flash ROM...
Yes, Emanno, your MegaFlashROM SCC+ has 8MB of flash rom so just use opfxsd or multi mente instead of sofarun. It will be fine.
Hello all, thanks a lot for the answers.
Kai Magazine, my MFRSCC+ is an older model (with no SD slot), so it has 8Mb (1MB) of flash rom. In this case, I guess it's not possible to run the game, since it's a 2MB game—as Manuel has just said above—correct? Or is there any fix I can make to allow the game to run on this model of MFR?
Kai,
About the MegaRAM that I mentioned above, it's a cartridge developed in Brazil since late 1980s/early 1990s, that allows one to run MegaROM games from any media type: floppy, SD, etc. It simulates Konami's MegaROM cartridges (bank switching), but instead of ROM chips, it comes with RAM chips. The first models launched in the late 80s, early 90s, had either 256 or 512KB of RAM, but the newest model (already sold out), developed by Ademir Carchano—the same guy who first developed them in the 80s—has 2MB of RAM. So you just plug this cartridge in an available slot and run your games through any media type you have: floppy, CF/IDE, SD, etc.
Ah, I see. I didn't know it was the older MFR SCC+ without sd.
Nevermind then.
Yes, as Manuel said you need at least 2048kb of flash memory to run it on the original hardware.
