When the Kanji-ROM in in a computer, you can dump it with KANJIROM.BAS (available on blueMSX site). I don't know if it works for a Kanji-ROM on a printer connected to a MSX computer.

The other method is to use an EPROM reader. It will give 'raw data' while the KANJIROM.BAS method gives the data as they are interpreted by the computer. It is still a discussion amongst MSX specialists about that.

I repost here:
Quick Disk drive BIOS preservation:
Philips VY-0002 QDD
Yeno DPQ-380 QDD
Dumps available in www.msxit.org
I dumped with Saverom - Normal - 0000-FFFF , so please cut yourself the blank and repeated blocks.
Maybe the reverse engineering on these roms could help to discover how to dump QD diskettes, in other words, I have many QDs and I'd like to preserve them using an utility "from QD to FD".

I checked your site but I cannot find the ROM files, could you post the direct links to the files?

I guessed removing and dumping the ROM was the way to go. For what purpose do we want to use these ROMs?

We need to compare the Kanji-ROMs, they are not all the same. It's also useful for emulation.

Hi,

I'm new on this board, so please exuse me, if I do somthing wrong. I'm playing around with old Computers for years and since my first Computer in 1988 was a Sanyo PHC-28L I'm emotionaly interested in this model.
At the moment I own two Sony PHC-28, my German one (28P) and a French one (28L).
The 28P has a German QWERTZ keyboard with ä ö ü ß, the 28L has a French AZERTY keyboard.
I'm not able to use the Computer with the French Keyboard properly, so I put a copy of the German ROM in this machine too.
I think the French verion ist dumped and emulated but the German version not.
I have dumped the ROM's with a EPROMer to get clean .bin-files, maby some of you are interested.

I'm not shure if it is okay to post download-links, so if it is not, please erase it.

Can you also post some pictures of this German PHC-28P? I thought there was only a QWERTY version of this computer, so it means the Wiki page needs to be changed https://www.msx.org/wiki/Sanyo_PHC-28P

There's another Sanyo computer with a QWERTZ keyboard: https://www.msx.org/wiki/Sanyo_MPC-64

And also this Sanyo machine has a QWERTZ keyboard: Sanyo PHC-30N (GE)

I've just found out it was advertised in Germany at the same time than the PHC-28P with QWERTZ keyboard....
