My talk about AY leveling was tech talk.
Your point was that user-guided sound leveling is possible. Yes, it is.
My point was that this is not necessary. It is not necessary.
Anyway, I wrote an algorithm for you. It is not optimized, but quite useful.
There are games who have 1x SCC 1x AY.
Yes.
Then what to do.
Plug the cartridge and play.
Why are you reprimanding people for downloading a ROM of Manbow 2? The game was given away for free for some time already, and norakomi said he’s ok with it, so there’s no problem, is there? 9 years after the original release and with distribution ceased, I would be ok with it as well if it was my software.
Good point. Let us all write to Konami to tell them that Solid Snake requires some patches to run from disk. The game is far more than 9 years old, so they must listen to us and do what we ask. In the same mail we can tell them that non original Playstation games won't work unless we patch the Playstation.
MrSpock: ?
Who’s asking norakomi to patch anything? And what does your remark have to do with that quote of mine?
To paraphrase my quote: What I do see is that some people are a little too vehemently putting others in a corner (IMO). I get and appreciate the line of thought that certain excuses translate to “I don’t wanna pay”, I really do. But it does not have to turn so personal, and it also does not apply to the case of Manbow 2 because it is no longer being sold and was already being distributed for free before, and the author does not object to ROM downloads (great!), so it’s off topic.
Also, your “algorithm” is quite insulting, it’s not a way to have a good discussion.

Nobody is asking Norakomi to patch his game, neither I am saying so, but the patching issues have been mentioned. I think that I haven't even used the words "Manbow 2" since now.
The thread is about including audio tuning options in games like Manbow 2 so that they can be played properly without requiring the original cartridge. Ramones was not reprimanding people for downloading Manbow 2. He talked about people who complain about the extra PSG. Those who complain about the extra PSG argue that these games require patches to run on emulators or flash cartridges. In this context, my answer makes perfect sense. I thought you were implicitly talking about this.

No off-topic. I never said anything about downloading Manbow 2. I know it is given for free. Actually, it was you who brought back the topic.
When I wrote my messages, the thread was no longer about Manbow 2 being free but about the audio tuning I mentioned before. If Norakomi gave his permission to distribute the game for free of course there is no problem in doing so. I have not talked in any way about that issue. I talked about the reasons behind requiring those tedious user guided audio tuning.

No, it is not insulting. All I have seen from hit9918 are vague responses to my comments. He clearly has not read what I wrote, so this was just a funny way to say "please, read my previous posts". A good way to have a discussion is to answer to what is said, not writing vague messages as he did.
Fair enough.
I think hit9918 was just mentioning other ways to solve the PSG balancing problem than including a 2nd PSG though. “Just pay for the product”, well, it’s a response I guess.
Also, your “algorithm” is quite insulting, it’s not a way to have a good discussion.
Allow users balance the sound it's too quite insulting... IMHO.
My apologies if my posts sounds vehement and/or off topic., Grauw. Yes, I usually separate users with non-users or emu users. To talk about menus on emulators, for me, it's totally off topic.
Ramones: Technical people tend to think of technical solutions to a problem I guess, rather than looking at it from the artistic point of view .
(Btw that MSX2 palette is quite insulting to MSX1 developers, don’t you think? I see your point though, I do. Although maybe it’s better if the developers themselves speak for how insulted they are.)
Funny what one can get into.
What ran my head was coders stuff.
One can get the internal AY leveled, why throw hardware at it,
and there is the problem of MSX3 versus the hardware kitchen sink.

GOTO 10
And well, ask the coder of your favourite game whether he uses emulators. Without emulators, the MSX would be dead.
Just before happened a prime example, grauw looking emulator source to figure out some coders business. emu is MSX PRESERVATION, huge knowledge pool, great work.
Emulate and preserve this:
I=500:GOTO 20
