The programmers should release the source code and creation tools as well before they die and their family throws it all away.
Bad news. Source code is gone. Its on a Harddisk that is propably now being recycled.
I haven't yet got what is the idea behind having two PSGs anyway?
As you may know, the balance between internal and external sound in MSX is not standard. This causes that in some computers the SCC sounds higher that the internal PSG. In others the opposite.
So with a second PSG in the cartridge you can get a perfect balance regardless of the MSX computer used.
A software solution, like this used in 'Montana John and the Templar's Treasure', is also possible. It's less expensive and leaves all freedom to the end user to set the balance PSG/SCC as he wants.

The second PSG has no cost. And for the user is easier to get it working out of the box that manually configure it.
And the balance should be the one that the music composer decided. I can't change the balance in any Konami SCC. Furthermore, it sound quite logic that the game sound equal in all MSX computers, isn't it?

In an emulator, you can change it. But of course it's another story.
I read somewhere that it's to obtain the same level of volume for PSG and SCC on all MSXs but I am skeptical. It's not a good idea if it's the case.
I disagree, gdx. Using external PSG in combination with SCC it's perfect. Usually the work of musician isn't taken seriously.
Music is a art. The musician decide the level of volume on PSG/SCC and you should not change these levels. Change / optimise the art is a lack of respect.
I don’t know a museum where with the ticket you receive a brush to do the changes you want: “This dress is blue, I prefer red”. How? We are crazy? Change a picture?
It's like allowing the player to manually change the whole colour palette.
As you know MSX native PSG level is totally different in each MSX. For this reason big applause to the Manbow2 team.
I think this "I'm esceptic " "add costs" "intensive use of flash" sounds excuse to dont pay for the original physical copy. I have a bit of experiencie on this matter with a game based on a movie...

Others than Manbow 2 (if it had on-cart PSG), how could we even tell which levels the musicians meant?

Hardly an option, when the game(s) is not sold anymore.

Sorry zPasi, I don't understand your question. Do you meant to know the volume levels on these games, with the original hardware used, to port to another similar hardware?

What about 2nd hand?
Anyway the thread would be similar if the game still for sale...

I prefer a regulator to adjust the SCC volume. This is a more appropriate solution.

No. I'm not sure about Manbow 2, but other games that included SCC hardware in the cart (usually Konami games) also utilise MSX standard internal PSG. The one that mixes with different level on different MSX models. How could we know what balance the musicians originally intended? We don't know what hardware they had, do we?

A regulator? What a heck?
