I feel that MSX Pacman, made by Namco, is the best 8 and 16 bit version of Pacman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ql...

It's normal, Namco is the original creator of the arcade, so they are the best indicated to convert the game B-)

I prefer to wait until the Coleco games are ported to MSX, so we won't need an emulator to run them. There are other Coleco games that are also available in Atari 2600, like Motocross Racer, Dragonfire, Smurfs e Popeye. I hope someone ports them to MSX. Smile

A majority of Colecovision games already work on MSX. Around twenty were converted by me, Muffie, Slotman and others. However some games require an SCC sound cartridge for obtain some missing sounds.

There is also another solution: The Musical Memory Mapper cartridge. It allows to operate over thirty games with the original sound.

Hmmm, I was not aware about this Musical Memory Mapper cartridge. Is it still available to buy?

Hi Axelstone,
have you seen Coleco Pacman on Coleco emulator?
The sprites are multicolour, and we have more than 4 on a single line without flickering video, this is a meaning of great programming.
Coleco is similar to Msx1. Instead if you look Namco Msx1 version, is more poor, sprites have only 1 color (only 4 by line that is the limit of msx1).
Coleco Pacman is universal considered one of the best 8 bit conversion due hardware limitations of the machine and great ability of software to exceed it.
I don't see much software for msx1 hardware able to have more than 4 sprites (I think 8 in this version) without flickering.

Amidar -> Panel Panic
Burger Time -> Mac Attack
Chopper Command -> Time Bandits
Dig Dug -> Dig Dug
Galaxian -> Boom!
Jawbreaker II -> Mr. Jaws, Smack Wacker (clone), Jawbreaker II (homebrew)
Pengo -> Igloo
Space Invaders -> Space Busters
Time Pilot -> Time Curb
Tutankhamon -> Tutankhamon (modern day Colecovision port)

Did the Atari 2600 had some Lunar Lander game? If yes, then -> Space Rescue

Let´s also say Scramble, even I don´t remember Atari 2600 had such game, but Super Cobra Instead.

Not totally sure if there was Crossfire! or it´s clone on 2600 -> Exterminator

Also not totally sure, Oil´s Well -> Oil´s Well, also some other Oil´s Well clone on MSX

Science Fiction, I think there was similar game on Atari 2600.

If homebrews count, then I can add Boulder Dash -> Boulder Dash. And Princess Rescue -> Super Boy I, Super Boy II (they are Zemina games though, but will work on MSX)

I think there are still some games not mentioned in this topic.

I would like to mention, that Desolator is not true Defender clone. It looks like Defender or Drop Zone, but there aren´t any humanoids to rescue, so I would call it a simplified and duller clone instead.

About Pac-Man, TI-99/4A conversion is equally good to Coleco conversion, looking way better than monochrome MSX conversion.

Wow, lots of nice games, thanks MäSäXi. I specially like Time Bandits.

I don't see a problem with homebrews, if they are good clones, that's what matters, I believe.

I agree about Desolator, it was the first thing I noticed (the lack of humanoids to rescue). I hope there's a better clone out there.

As a matter of fact, I hope there's a clone of at least one of these: Enduro, Adventure , Megamania, Haunted House, Yars Revenge, Superman (or Spiderman) ... I really enjoyed these games when I was a kid.

There's also MSX games "Burger Time" and "Galaxian" and even "Space Invaders" (with several clones). Of course also Time Pilot. Oil's Well is a very good MSX game too. Boulder Dash too.

I converded Defender from Colecovision to MSX but it works on MSX1 VDP only.
