Congrats!, the new site looks great; but I also find the Pengo ad a little disturbing and HUGE. I best prefer a wide forum with wide posts, they're easier to read.

Keep on the good work polishing the site! Smile

EDIT: Strange things I've just noticed. I can't see my avatar in the post; but indeed I can see it in my profile. Also there're two EDIT buttons in the post's bottom command bar (any difference between them?).

Maybe the size of the original PNG file is too big. I've used a PNG file without any problem : 88 x 88 (in my profile, it is displayed as 124 x 124 and here as 46 x 46).

[img]http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/7321/image4d.jpg][/img] <- Why is this not working ?

bbcodes are no longer supported. We're still debating if we will include an image upload option in the WYSIWYG editor. I'll try to make a suitable fix until then.

Also, we are aware of the issues with the avatars and will look into that ASAP. For the time being you can work around it by saving your image from jpg to png, or vice versa, if it gives problems.

Size of the image shouldn't be a problem as it gets resized automatically.

Where can I find the webshop and the my downloads sub webpart?

We no longer have a webshop (yet?). If you have purchased stuff before and need your download, you can contact me.

Image uploads: please do! Thumbnail kept on MSX.org itself, optionally clickable to full-size version (that might be on external site to keep MSX.org traffic in bounds).

Homepage background is annoying, and site IMHO would be better if content part fills a wider part of the screen. 'Random' YouTube vids look a bit out of place, better put those 'news bits' or so there.

Takes some getting used to, but it looks like start page is laid out pretty well (in terms of content blocks, that is).

The Wiki is a welcome addition (but needs a lot of work Wink ), I encountered this: In Wiki help there are some pages with "type this", and "you'll see that". Text in those boxes is virtually invisible (white on light gray or something).

Still miss that "add your website here", and a preview button when editing posts. And agenda for upcoming events? And some links to active user groups and individual MSX'ers other than just those from demoscene.

Hey I see 2x "EDIT" under the post ?!?

A small note here to fondacio: I made most of those groups, simply by browsing through picturedisks and such. I quickly copied templates from one group to another, and Stefan Boer happened to be a temp-person in that template, so there's Stefan Boer everywhere. There's no other meaning behind that than just lazy copying a name, nor is there any other meaning towards using Stefan as temp name, other than that I probably started with Sunrise first.. :) By all means: feel free to edit. Read the EditingScene article in the wiki, and try to use (for example) the Infinite page as a guideline for group articles, and the Wolf page as guideline for persons. I made these pages myself - obviously - according to my ideas about what it should look like.

Hi!
The new MSX site is very nice in the overall... but I do have some minor notices. Cool
1) The new site is "heavy" mainly due to the background image. It became a lot faster after I disabled it. Besides, the background image adds "noise" to the site visual, so I believe it should be disabled by default.
2) A lot of space is "spared" on the top section, requiring scroll down to see most information. I usually come to MRC to read the forums and the latest topics are not even visible without some scrolling (and I am using a huge 22" monitor).
3) It took me sometime to figure out that the only way to access my user configuration was clicking on my username on the top-left corner. Maybe adding the "User Configuration" option on "HOME" or "MRC" menu would be something more intuitive.
Anyway, congratulations for the major effort on keeping MRC site up-to-date! Smile
Regards!

My first post on the new MRC era. Cool stuff! Smile Here is my first suggestion: provide an option to see the site contents at full width (I understand this is a nontrivial layout change and can't be done overnight).
