Is it worth investing in a MSX2+ or MSX Turbo?

MSX2 + FM-PAC = MSX2+ as for gaming. You will only miss the digitized pictures in screen 12.

Ah. FM-pac. Yes that should be a reason to go for MSX2+

So don't buy a Sanyo Wavy 35....

Indeed, FM-PAC is not in all MSX2+ models, as retrocanada76 pointed out! Always be aware of this!!

128kB RAM is mostly useful for Dutch/European MSX2 games.

Space Manbow has no shakey border on MSX2+ as it does on MSX2, and games like Dix (MSX-Engine) and Special Stage Michelle (Scaptrust) look more slick on 2+. There's a minor amount o' software which is exclusively for 2+. Some games just have a title screen in screen 12 while the rest of the game is screen 5 - though it may use hardware scrolling.
You'll also need a 2+ or higher if you want to play Laydock 2 - Last Attack.
While it is a very fun (and gorgeous looking) game (YouTube), I don't know if it's enough to justify getting such a machine by itself. :)

Built-in msx-dos2 is a good reason for a TR. MIDI interface for a GT.

Screen12 uses a nice compression techinque. Interesting to say all modern consoles uses compression too like DXT or PVR, but MSX did it in 1988! WOW Smile

never the less, apart the cool factor, for gamers the added value is small. For coders instead.. Anyway if bluemsx stays with its bugs, real hw could be a good option to see the next forecaming games with raycasting and textures ;-)

When you don't mind the specs, the design of the 2+ and TR are awesome. :-)
