Hello,

I found *.dsk files for metal gear 1 et 2 . I want to write them on a disk to play on my Hb-f1HD.

Do you think that is possible with this msx? (ram 64k/128k video)

Thanks for your help.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you'll need more RAM to play these games, Metal Gear 2 specially. I can't remember exactly but the second one would need 512KB RAM for play it in ROM format, and I think there's no reason for a .DSK version to be lower in that requirement. 64KB is low RAM for this kind of things, I think Smile2

A good option if you can't expand RAM internally is MegaflashRom SCC+ or a SD card interface with external RAM (and best option, both of them Running Naked in a Field of Flowers )

Can't help more, but sure soon you'll have a better answer from anyone else Smile

Diskversion of Solid Snake needs 256 KB for mute and 512 KB with music...

Also, it occasionally hangs on 256 KB. Notably when entering a truck etc.

I don't want to open discussion about that, but I'm not who to ask no one if he/she has the original games. In the other hand, I'm sure most people that points to the fact that this is illegal have "not payed" for some PC programs or OS that they use every day... this actual soft (don't matter if we like or dislike the soft) is what provides a way for people to earn money and roll with their lives. Not this Konamis. So I'd like to see the same comment you made but adding this at the end: "... but why?" Wink

Anyway, 64KB is not enough for a lot of legal (and ACTUAL, so pay for it if it's not freeware or so) MSX software.

Yes, with a MegaFlashRom you can mimic a real cartridge

Neither do I. It's just a fact. If the game is on a cartridge, you need just 64kB. Otherwise 512kB.

Yes, the Mega Flash Rom is your friend.

I have over 130 games on cartridge but mostly I play them using the flash-cart. Why? Well I like to play Konami's on 60hz on a non-jap machine (English text). Also there are excellent translations and/or improvement patches for games available.

Also I'm not sure which >64kb games Meits is referring to. I play games on my VG-8220 (64kb) and never encountered a problem with a game using more than 64kb. (Perhaps scene games as sold by Sunrise?)

I just tried Pumpkin Adventure 3 on my Panasonic 2+ and it needs 128kb. I haven't yet encountered any other games that need more memory. And as I buy everything original, there hasn't been a problem for me with the lack of memory, at least not yet.
