The best solution, once again, is to let an emulator (and for convenience I'll stick to openMSX) convert psg/scc/fmpac frequencies to concrete notes, and then convert them to midi notes so one can use the already available midi exporter to create a midi file. One midi channel for each chip channel.

I am not involved in openMsx, or not enough but this is exactly what I do with KSS-X.
There's tons of reasons why I will not use Midi Pac. First, I do not have a real msx anymore.
But perhaps some guys made an extension in openMsx so it can use it.

Another point is that I like to use players such as KSS-X so we can create playlist, listen to music in the order we want without interaction.
Create a playlist, open it and play it.

Hahaha, nice to see that every one has their reason for some kind of a solution, at least we all do it for the love of the old MSX game musics Wink

Good luck with the conversion !

As I mentioned, the conversion to midi device is not hard.
I just need to spend more time on the project and recently I just discover that apart from week-end I do not have time.
And I also like to enjoy my week-ends. Wink

On the other hand you probably can't map psg, scc and music over a single midi port !Why not?

Usually you'd have psg+scc (3+5 channels) or psg+music (3+9 channels), so you'd have a maximum of 12 channels in parallel -- fits perfectly on one midi port. You could then even separate the psg's noise channel and still have 3 midi channels unused.
"FM-Stereo" (FM-Pac + Music Module + PSG == 9+9+3 == 21 channels) is another thing though... Running Naked in a Field of Flowers

One midi channel for each chip channel.as far as I know, a feature like that already exists in openMSX. (search for the on screen display sound chip keyboard thingy)

True. But songs using that configuration don't even exist yet as long as there is no tracker to create those with. Smile

With Moonblaster it would just be 9 channels plus drums... One could opt for oracle though, but i wonder who did something with that next to the demotunes by wolf_...
Or even "worse": Try a fully expanded SME through midi... Won't work Tongue

On top of that, I bet j-war doesn't need that anyhoo as the original tunes will be game tunes using just psg, msx music and/or scc... That just fits fine...

*ahum* those Oracle demotunes were made in MB. I've never used Oracle, for the simple reason I couldn't run it back in my 8245 days.. Tongue
