It's the first of November, so lets have a look at which files have been downloaded the most in October 2004. Entries to the Bounce Challenge practically dominate the top 10 this time, but other new releases got quite some downloads as well. In this month, the following 10 files were downloaded the most:

GhostP of xl2s Entertainment released a demo version of a first person maze engine (similar to Wolf3D) for MSX. After a discussion on our forums on the subject, GhostP came up with this demo. You can walk around in the maze, slide and change color schemes.
On October 1st we started a new poll, asking what kind of games you'd like to see on MSX. About one month and 106 votes later, here are the results:

When ASCII and MSX Association announced the return of MSX on PLD World 2004 it was bound to get some serious media attention in Japan.
MuMem 0.01
A Japanese developer called Hexl25 released a utility called MuMem which is a tool for creating instrument data for wave memory soundchips like the HuC6280 of the PC-ENGINE, the Namco106 sound chip of the NES and Konami's SCC. You can get it from the 'application' section of Hexl25's website.

Today and tomorrow the 26th edition of the Aamsx MSX User Meeting in Barcelona will be held. During this fair a quick programming contest will be held. The objective? To code a game inspired by Arkanoid before 12:00 without using any MSX peripherals like GFX9000 or FM-PAC.
In September 2003 a new MSX game was announced on the NBNO forums. Unfortunately the developers did not manage to finish the game before the annual MSX fair in OSS and for a while it seemed like the project was abandoned.
