A year has passed since the Japanese user Mstz80ax released the last version of his ADX 2.8 player. Remember that ADX files, developed by himself, consist of a music file format for our MSX computers with PCM samples, stereo FM, and double PSG.

But with the 3.7 version is time for a major improvement and naturally, the SCC was the most logical addition! Moreover, now old mono files are played using both channels.

As usual, new music albums were attached to this new release, so you can enjoy Arumana no Kiseki, Contra, Falsion, Dragon Quest, and Metal Gear now.

Nice to see the update, but sadly it doesn't work.
Had the old 2.8 file ( works perfectly! ) replaced with the new one, but all it does is showing
== ADX Player ========v3.0==

and that's it. It freezes.
Redownloaded it, to make sure nothing was corrupted by a download, but still same results. =(

Setup used:
Philips NMS8245 MSX2
MegaFlashRom SCC+ 512K 1 sd slot
Modulon slotexpander filled with
Dal so ri r2
Philisp Music Module
Panasoft FMPac

Thank you for downloading and watching.
This problem occurred because the location of the main RAM differs depending on the model.
This is because the program fixed the position of the main RAM after slot switching.
Therefore, when we release it in the future, we will check the position of the main RAM and correct it so that the slot is switched correctly, so I think it will work reliably.

Great job again mstz80ax Wink I have one request regarding mono/stereo playback. As you know some tracks make use of dual OPLL, dual PSG or dual SCC+ for stereo. But some tracks are using just mono. If you have setup a machine for playback of stereo (including the correct mixing) the mono tracks are only played on 1 OPLL/PSG/SCC+ and as such only on left channel. It would be nice if ADXP could detect a second device for mono tracks and play back on second device (if detected) as well. That way playback will be mono (but on bot left and right channel). I hope it is clear what I want to say Wink

Removed version 3.0 and uploaded version 3.5. Now the problem with the slot switching is solved. Enjoy!

Yes. I don't think it is impossible.
The reason for eliminating this is that when considering on the actual machine,
When two sound sources sound at the same time and are mixed to mono, the sound is amplified by a factor of two.
Therefore, in the case of monaural, it is operated so that it will be output from one sound source.
I think it would be nice to be able to change this behavior in the option settings.

I think there is a mistake in your line of thought. Say I have a real MSX2 with 2 FM-PAC. I connect 1 to left channel and 1 to right channel. If you play a stereo track the two chips operate independently and the output is sent to an amplifier and then to speakers. If you play a mono track you can just play the same notes on both chips, they are not mixed into 1 mono channel just both channels will sound the same Wink

This is of course when the FM-PAC have dedicated outputs. If all sound is mixed through internal mixer it makes no sense as even the stereo setup will produce mono output.

Certainly, it is natural to assume that there will be no problem if the same sound is mixed normally, but if the same sound is mixed, only the same sound will be amplified, and the volume of one channel will be balanced and lower. It's for

But left and right channel are not necessarily mixed but processed separately (only in the air after waves are produced by the speaker). This is the case if you use openMSX and set panning on the two chips differently. It is also the case if you take audio from the cartridge/chip directly and disconnect it from MSX mixer.

Well, the point is that there is no problem if you increase the degree of freedom by setting options to meet the user's intentions.
