I've seen some messages in the past that the MIDI-PAC isn't providing a MSX music basic extension. This is not completely true as there is a way, let me explain. In case you don't have a FM-PAC or a MSX that is missing the music extension, you could use the old 16KB FM-PAC ROM to add the basic music support to the MIDI-PAC. With this ROM it will function as a FM-PAC (without the game save data).

U can use the MIDI-PAC flash tool to put the ROM inside your MIDI-PAC.

Only use this option if you don't have the basic extension inside your MSX. Strange things could happen if you add multiple music basic ROM's inside one MSX. Also don't start asking me about the FMPAC ROM as it's copyrighted and I will not help distributing. All credits on this basic extension goes to Panasonic

This is cool and good to know. I always assumed MIDI-PAC was by default an MSX-Music compliant cartridge, and now I see it isn't, although it can be. Very interesting, thanks for the info!

The problem is that the MIDI-PAC ould have checked all kind of different implementations of MSX Music, if something goes wrong strange things could happen if multiple music implementation where present within one MSX. So I choose to just implement a identifier as default (which works for most of the games/apps) and a possibility to manually implement a different solution if needed Smile
