I've been trying to use the GFX9000 game Codename:Intruder in OpenMSX. I've tried using V9000 and gfx9000 with C-BIOS MSX2+, FS-A1GT, and Boosted MSXTurbo-R with IDE. I get a black screen for the video set to gfx9000 or V9000 and for video set to MSX I get a blank blue screen or blue screen with message: init rom in slot:1
It will run out of the box on the Boosted machines (they have a built in Video9000). It also runs on C-BIOS with the video9000 extension.
Anyway, probably the problem is the mapper type. Specify ASCII16 explicitly and I guess it will work fine.
If you download the latest development build of openMSX, the game is included in the database and openMSX will thus set the correct mappertype for you.

With openMSX you can type F10 (command line), then "set videosource GFX9000" to switch the screen...
Or when invoking openMSX on command line, add "-ext gfx9000 -bind F12 'set videosource GFX9000'", then F12 function key will toggle display between native MSX VDP and GFX9000.
Interesting. Now I get a screen that says to switch to gfx9000 view, so i do, and all i get is a screen that says V9990??

I got same thing even with cartridge, not a ROM, and was complaining to Eric that the cardridge is broken. Though, pushing the space or fire button on your joystick starts the game. It was surprisingly hilarious to see it working after that, lol
