MSX Nijmegen 2018 - reminder

On Saturday the 3rd of February, the annual Dutch MSX fair will be held in a new location. 2018's fair will be held in Dorpshuis De Lèghe Polder in Nijmegen. Doors open at 10am and close at 5pm, but you can come earlier to help setting up the room!

There is already quite an interesting list of booths, as currently shown on the fair website:

openMSX Team - Demonstration of the current development version of openMSX, all Laserdisc games, the latest developments and the debugger GUI. Also we'll be showing openMSX running on several devices, like Android devices and the GCW Zero.
Hamlet's Posters and Cards - Pictures, cards and posters. A game contest, a demonstration of the new CASduino and a demo of Tweety.
msx-shop.nl - msx-shop.nl, msxworldwide.com and tmtlogic.com: sale of new and old hardware, such as UMJA mouse/joystick adapter. Also superfluous items from msxmuseum.nl.
SuperSoniqs - Demonstration of the stereoPSG sound card.
MSX Club West-Friesland - Promotion of MSX by buying and selling books, magazines, software and hardware.
~~R & M - MSX Software & Hardware.~~
The New Image - Demonstration of the latest MSX developments by The New Image. Information about the next generation MSX system. Sale of MSX merchandise.
Bas & Ditta - Buy and sale of MSX software and hardware, repairs, expansions, cables.
HCC MSXig - Demonstration of MSX and peripherals.
SymbOS - Demonstrations of SymbOS 3.0 on different Z80 machines like the MSX1 using a GFX9000, an Amstrad CPC connected to MSX hardware (GFX9000 and SE-ONE) and of course a turboR machine. All of these are connected to each other via a LAN. Also demonstrating Quigs (developer suite for SymbOS applications). And we'd like to talk to you about the latest ideas and developments.
Bitwise - Demonstration and sales of MSX games.
RBSC (Russian Bear Service Crew) - Demonstration of RBSC hardware: Carnivore, Carnivore2, SFG clones, IDE/FDD combo controller, F4/FMPAC combo board, SGC and other cartridge platforms and boards. Selling bare boards for RBSC hardware and flash cartridges with mappers (not Carnivore2). Collecting orders for future board manufacturing. Team Noramos - Showing the progress on the buggiest game ever created on MSX ;-)
Marcel Schipper - Sale of 2nd hand MSX stuff (hardware and software) and demonstration of MSXturboR and Sony MSX2.

However, as the fair has moved to a new location, there is still plenty of room for booths! The costs will most probably turn out to be low, so please consider reserving one.

It might be a good idea to have a space where one can show stuff to others? Too little stuff to actually have a booth, but maybe interesting enough to show to a public

And sometimes I go to anime conventions, there is always a time schedule with 'things to do'..... Like the annual quiz, a lecture, open stage? I think it would be a nice addition to an already great day

I vote for a workshop ASM for dummies or a presentation about the internals of a game/program/util people created, would also be interesting. A small MSX conference I saw that fosdem 2018 has a Retrocomputing devroom : https://fosdem.org/2018/schedule/track/retrocomputing/ :) but no MSX topics :(

Thx Sylvester for the add-on It's just..... It's a special day. It's only once a year we're all together and I am pretty sure it would be great to have some kind of a lecture schedule and have central talks about stuff..... It's nice to have a bit more than walking around, speaking to some familiars, checking booths 4 times and waiting until it's 5pm....

Don´t hold back your projects!
There is plenty of room left, so I am sure a additional booth should be no problem. And you are welcome to be guest seller/presenter at my booth, if you won´t have a own one!
Like the last years I´m sure there will be some specials build in, like a quiz or shows. Of course that need people who plan and organize such things.
A workshop would be great, but as we are in a gymn, we decided to add a sports event. Be surprised.
We will have a great day, I´m pretty sure. With enough time to talk and share experiences. I´m looking forward to meet you!

So far we have 38 tables reserved and 21 people registered for the Chinese dinner (not joining Grauw?? it's not as long as a freaking MSX Marathon! ;-))

I'll be at the TNI table selling some New Old Stock (aka never used) third party Sega Megadrive Joypads, great for use with Joymega adapter on MSX, for sofarun and various other software.

Price will be 6 euro's each, 10 for 2. Please let me know either here or through mail/contact form if I need to reserve some for you.

Still intending to come, with one of my reasons being to try and find some issues from MSX Gids in order to scan them.
My method of scanning involves a feeder which greatly speeds up the processes, but it means I have to damage them. I think it's totally worth it, though.
(I might try to scan a few with a tool like Office Lens which keeps the magazines intact, but it's probably too slow and quality might be an issue.)

AFAIK currently the only available MSX Gids scans are all on archive.org, and there are still missing quite a few.

I've got Some sound out of it. I'm working hard to get better sound emulation. Hopefully a first version will help to raise the interest of people able to help get it better.

Contact form on the website was shutdown a couple of months ago due to a hack. Haven't had the time to properly fix this yet...

Very nice fair once again! Glad I got better just in time to make it to the fair. Met a bunch of people face to face for the first time, that’s nice, but there’s also a lot I missed I think because I didn’t really get the chance to walk around much . Well, next time!

@Grauw hahahaha, and apologies for not noticing you sooner.. passed by so many times to have a ciggie outside and then I realised ey, he's there too hahahaha. It was pretty crowded during the day, I wonder how many people actually visited the fair.
