I have recently bought a cx5m computer to use, i recently found out that it has the SFG-01 Fm Module inside...
What are my options for getting it to play notes via midi from another device (i. e. my win xp computer), is their a way do this with SFG-01 or do i need an SFG-05.
If so does anyone know the best place to start looking for one?
"call music" will turn the CX5M into play mode, no program cartridges are necessary. If it has the old SFG-01 unit fitted, you will not be able to do anything at all without the YK-01 or YK-10 keyboard. If you have the SFG-05 fitted (look underneath the computer) the CX5M will respond to MIDI IN signals on up to four different MIDI channels simultaneously."
You can modify the sfg01 to sfg05. The sound ic's are register compatible. Modding the SFG-01 will add midi in support and fisk support. There's a diagram somewere on the net but it has an error. Mrc user msxholder knows the solution.

What i would like to know is if i can run the msx using a sequencer on a win xp computer to use through midi...
searching through the web it looks like the sfg-01 will only send information not recieve it.
Is their a way to get round this or do i need the sfg-05 module, if so can anyone point me in the right direction as to getting hold of one.
In regards to what sander said i have seen a schematics digram for it but i am no electrician, and have no experience in soldering or anything to with that.. this is something i would much rather trust in the hands of an expert.
Thanks for the hasty reply Mars2000you yes that looks like a great little program! do you know of a way to convert to a wav.file, was just thinking if i can somehow play from a modern computer using media player to send the wav.file to the tape in slot of the msx, just trying to think of a way i can use the msx itself instead of an emulation as i dont know of another way to do it.
I have mentioned this because i saw something a while back using a color computer on you tube, this guy had all the original tape files stored on a modern computer and sent them via a cassette cable to his coco.
